5.2 Route53 - Register A Domain Name - Lab

This lab will show you how to register a domain name.

Steps:

• Go to AWS console and go to Route53 and click get started.

• Go to Domains and click Registered domains in the left hand side bar, and click Register Domain button in the right hand side.

• Choose a domain name and suffix. Select the available domain name and click Add cart, and click Continue.

• Fill up the Contact Details and click continue.

• Review the details and complete your purchase.

• Domain registration might take up to 3 days to complete.

• Click Go To Domains.

• Go back to the Registered domains in the left hand side bar, you will see your new registered domain.

• Click Dashboard in the left hand side bar, you can see it's actually created a hosted zone for us. Go ahead and click in there (or click the Hosted zones in the left hand side bar) and you will see your domain name. Click on the domain name, you will see two things: the NS records and the SOA record. You always need NS records and SOA for any hosted zone within Route53.
